B&K prepares for start on Two New Bailey
Main contractor Bowmer & Kirkland has begun enabling works on Two New Bailey Square, marking the beginning of construction on the 188,500 sq ft office building for client English Cities Fund.
The office development will provide 10 floors of grade A space with floorplates of up to 17,900 sq ft, with two private outdoor terraces on each floor. It also includes a 50-space car park at basement level and 102 cycle spaces, and was designed by architect AHMM.
The building forms part of the wider New Bailey development, which is being brought forward by English Cities Fund, a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General, and the Homes & Communities Agency.
The first commercial building at the scheme, One New Bailey, is now largely occupied by law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, which has taken 80,000 sq ft across five floors. With wealth management business WH Ireland occupying 6,600 sq ft, there are only one-and-a-half floors of office space left, totalling around 25,000 sq ft.
The first office was also built by Bowmer & Kirkland, and the £50m building completed in 2016.
New Bailey also includes a multi-storey car park and Premier Inn, again built by B&K, and The Slate Yard, a multi-block private rented development. The first phase completed in the summer with Carillion as main contractor. Work is already well underway on the second property of the scheme.
What a refreshing piece of architecture.
