BCSC 2009 promises £3m city fillip
Retail property organisation BCSC's annual conference is set to inject £1m a day into Manchester's economy over its three-day event this November.
The British Council of Shopping Centre's Conference & Exhibition is the largest gathering of retailers and the retail property industry held in the UK.
This year's event is taking place at Manchester Central and Bridgewater Hall from 9 to 11 November and is the fifth time the prestigious industry event has been held in the city.
Representatives from leading retailers John Lewis, Debenhams and House of Fraser will be present, as well as a host of top high street names including The Body Shop, Tie Rack, Next, Primark and New Look. Retail exhibitors include supermarket giants Sainsbury's and Tesco, as well as health food retailer Holland & Barrett. A number of landlords, developers, consultants and corporate partners are also set to attend, including Land Securities, British Land, Hammerson, CBRE and DTZ.
Michael Green, chief executive of BCSC, said: "Manchester has proved to be an extremely successful location for the conference and exhibition over the years. There are only a handful of cities that can accommodate a conference and exhibition of this magnitude and Manchester could not be better suited to our requirements.
"The BCSC Conference brings together thousands of leading representatives from the retail property industry, offering a key forum for developing partnerships – an attribute that both Manchester and BCSC are renowned for."
The event is sponsored by Ireland's Chartered Land.
