Ask picks Muirhead for chairman

Geoff Muirhead, who retires as Manchester Airports Group chief executive later this year, has been named non-executive chairman of Ask Developments.

Muirhead, 60, has spent 22 years at Manchester Airport and was made chief executive in 2001.

Ken Knott, chief executive of Ask, said: "[Geoff] has overseen the remarkable expansion of Manchester Airports Group, and he brings a huge experience of finance and business.

"Geoff also has experience of strategic development projects and public-private partnerships, which will be of great value to us.

"As non-executive chairman, Geoff will enhance the strategic and financial capability of Ask Developments. We look forward to working with him as we seek to maximise the performance and the value of the company."

Muirhead, a former chairman of the Confederation of British Industry Northwest, said: "It is very exciting to have joined a dynamic organisation which has a strong reputation for delivering innovative developments of quality.

"I look forward to working with Ken and the Ask team to deliver Ask's impressive portfolio of development opportunities to the same high standard."

Ask's last non-executive chairman, Alan Benzie, former chairman of housebuilder David McLean Groups, stepped down late last year after a five-year tenure.

Ask also announced two promotions to the main board: Andrew Parker, procurement director, and Jonathan Cross, finance director.

Warren Partners represented Ask in its search for a new non-executive chairman.
