Ardmac and Penketh deliver for Kier
Fit-out contractor Ardmac and furniture company Penketh Group have completed the fit-out of Kier’s finance shared service centre at 81 Fountain Street in Manchester.
Kier occupies five floors, totalling around 26,000 sq ft at the 40,100 sq ft building, which it bought in September 2016 before completing a sale and leaseback deal with investor Aprirose. Kier is creating 250 jobs at the new office, adding to existing offices in Queen Street and Trafford Park. The business appointed Ardmac to carry out works, with the fit-out contractor drafting in Penketh.

John Prendergast, regional director of Ardmac, said: “Penketh delivered an extremely polished and professional install from start to finish. At every level of the project, from the pre-construction stage to the design and delivery, the team were friendly, helpful, flexible and well resourced.
“Our client was also delighted with the quality of their products.”
Penketh had worked with Ardmac on the fit-out of its Manchester showroom in Bruntwood’s Neo building, leading Ardmac to invite the firm to provide a solution for the Kier project.
Paul Mann, Penketh’s sales director, said: “We developed a good working relationship with Ardmac during the fit-out of our own showroom.
“With Kier, the emphasis was on creating spaces that would not only encourage productivity amongst employees but also promote wellbeing with spaces designed to support the way we work today.”
Work started last month on the demolition of Oddfellows House, at the junction of Fountain Street and York Street, where Kier Property is to build a 79,000 sq ft office scheme branded as 11 York Street.
