Airport City director resigns after 10 months in role

The director spearheading the development of the £800m Airport City project has left the post after only 10 months.

Karen Campbell joined Manchester Airports Group in January but left the position last week for health and personal reasons.

A MAG Property spokesperson said: "Karen Campbell resigned from the position of Airport City director, effective 7 October 2013, for health and personal reasons and will be relocating back to London.

"Since joining us Karen has significantly contributed to the development and promotion of Airport City, working closely with our customers and partners.

"In the interim, John Atkins, MAG's Property Director, will assume Karen's Airport City responsibilities."

Campbell's departure came days before the announcement of the joint venture partners which will develop the 65 acre site around Manchester Airport. It will include a mix of offices, hotels, warehousing and logistics facilities.

MAG, Beijing Construction Engineering Group, Carillion and the Greater Manchester Pension Fund have started work on the project, with elements of the scheme due to be completed from mid-2015. Argent has been appointed by the joint venture to development manage the scheme.

The companies Campbell worked with before joining MAG include TAL CPT Land Development, BT, Telfonica and Lend Lease.
