Aimes expands on Edge Lane

Aimes Grid Services has taken 33,271 sq ft at Liverpool Innovation Park, owned and operated by Space Northwest, the joint venture between Ashtenne Industrial Fund and the Homes & Communities Agency.

The technology company, which currently occupies 5,700 sq ft on the third floor of Baird House at the park will create a new technology centre at Kilby House, where it will occupy the entire building.

Kilby HouseAimes provides date centre and cloud computing services to businesses from across a range of industries, including pharmaceutical, automotive, healthcare and the digital and creative sectors.

Emily Armstrong of Space Northwest said: "We have an excellent relationship with Aimes and are very pleased the company has chosen to invest in its future by expanding at the park.

"This deal is highly significant because of the size of the letting and the huge benefits it brings for our tenants. Upgrading the electrical infrastructure at the park to accommodate Aimes' requirements for a high-speed data centre will also make LIP a more attractive proposition to occupiers. This will upgrade the existing power supply by more than 30%, providing the data centre with 1.5 megawatt capabilities."

Prof Dennis Kehoe, chief executive of Aimes, said: "The new data centre facility that we're building in Kilby House will save over 3,000 tonnes of CO2 a year, putting Liverpool at the forefront of energy efficient digital provision in the UK and making LIP an attractive destination for the hosting of digital infrastructure.

"Customers will benefit from the improved levels of energy efficiency, cost savings, increased resilience and security that the new facilities will offer when they open in May."

Liverpool Innovation Park includes Wavertree Technology Park and aims to offer space for every stage of the company life cycle from 100 sq ft modules to 80,000 sq ft buildings and development plots.

Liverpool Innovation Park is partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Matthews & Goodman advised Aimes.
