Agents appointed to Cains redevelopment

GVA and Colliers International have been instructed by Robert Cain Brewery to market the £150m regeneration project to be known as Cains Brewery Village on Upper Parliament Street in Liverpool.

The redevelopment of the former brewery received consent from Liverpool City Council in November last year. The proposed scheme will comprise the conversion and extension of the grade 2-listed brewery building for a range of uses including a new craft brewery and museum, a boutique hotel with 94 bedrooms and an art-house cinema.

Outline permission was also granted for 725 new homes, a 41,900 sq ft foodstore and 36,300 sq ft of flexible commercial accommodation.

The site is owned by Brewery Village Ltd, a company established by the family of Sudarghara Dusanj, who operated the brewery and still owns the land and buildings.

Cains will continue to use the site, however it will concentrate on smaller scale production, such as craft beers.

Jason Sibthorpe, head of retail at GVA, said: "It is fantastic to be involved in one of Liverpool's most important regeneration projects. Once complete, the development will create a vibrant urban village which will not only act as a major tourist attraction for the city but also underpin the wider regeneration of the Baltic Triangle development area, creating a destination for creative and independent minded companies and individuals to thrive."

Andy Delaney, director of development consulting and agency at the North West office of Colliers International in Manchester, said: "Brewery Village sits within a fast evolving regeneration area. Its proximity to Liverpool One and the Waterfront, coupled with the high profile of the site and the landmark nature of the buildings make this a highly attractive development opportunity. We have had an encouraging level of interest already and we anticipate that this will increase further as economic recovery gathers pace."

Cains is advised by planning consultancy Turley and architect Falconer Chester Hall.

It is located nowhere near the Waterfront or Liverpool One! Its in Toxteth/ Dingle. More scrutiny on these press releases please, Editor.

Cains is separated only by Jamaica Street from Liverpool ONE and a hundred metres from the waterfront which you can see from the traffic lights at the entrance into the brewery. Proximity is, I would suggest, subjective, and it was in the agent’s quote so it’s up to him what he thinks, these are his views and not those of the publication.

Editor, it is located one mile from Liverpool One and over 400 m from the River Mersey. This agent "subjectivity" you refer to is misleading.
