Guinness gets nod for cladding remediation project

Two tower blocks in Salford will have combustible materials removed and replaced under plans approved this week by the city council.

Guinness Partnership’s 15-storey Delaney Heights and Adelphi Court, which together comprise 240 flats off Silk Street, last had their external facades redeveloped in 2016 and 2017.

However, shortly after, some of the materials were found to be dangerous following nationwide investigations in the wake of the Grenfell fire in London, which killed 72 people.

Now, combustible spandrel panels, soffits, and flashings on both Delaney Heights and Adelphi Court will be replaced to bring the blocks in line with building safety regulations.

Guinness was contacted for comment.

Bickerdike Allen Partners is advising Guinness on the plans.
