Next 1m sq ft at Radway 16 given green light

Cheshire East Council granted unanimous approval to Tilstone Industrial, a subsidiary of Warehouse REIT, for the construction of five units ranging from 40,000 sq ft to 400,000 sq ft close to Junction 16 of the M6.

The approval of the 1m sq ft second phase of Radway 16 follows consent for 800,000 sq ft of industrial units at the former BAE site to the north in 2021.

The latest phase features five units of 40,000 sq ft, 90,000 sq ft, 145,000 sq ft, 345,000 sq ft and 400,000 sq ft on 64 acres off Radway Green Road.

Warehouse REIT acquired the site as part of a £26.25m deal in 2017 alongside other industrial assets in Knowsley and Skelmersdale.

BHP Design is the architect and Savills is the planning consultant for Radway 16. Hydrock is providing transport planning advice.

“We welcome the unanimous decision to support a strategic allocation for the North West,” said Jeremy Hinds, planning director at Savills.

“The site will deliver 1,500 new jobs and Tilstone is keen to bring the project forward as soon as possible in response to occupier demand.”

The scheme was approved at a mammoth four-hour meeting of Cheshire East Council’s strategic planning board that also saw housing developments from Vistry and Taylor Wimpey approved.
