Light industrial units proposed for Preston
A planning application has been submitted for 20 small industrial units on land at Beesley Farm, Garstang Road, in Barton.
The applicants, the landowners George and Norman Dudgale, propose 20 units for the 3.9-acre site, two of which would house offices totalling 10,300 sq ft.
One unit would be a two-storey part-industrial, part-office building. Some of the light industrial units could be converted into larger units, under the proposals, but 20 would be the maximum number of units on the site.
The design and materials are to be detailed at reserved matters stage, but the architect LMP Architectural Consultants anticipates that they would “respect the character and appearance of the local area.”
LMP said the proposals “illustrate a sustainable and appropriate commercial and light industrial development that would provide high-quality business space while respecting the existing character and economically enhancing the local area.
“The proposal will form an attractive development for small and medium size businesses with the flexibility of space to stay and grow in the area. This development has the potential to create jobs and encourage investment in the area to further sustain the growth of the local villages.”
PWA Planning advised on the scheme.
