Green light for Princess Street hostel
Realty Estates’ plans to convert four floors of empty office space near Manchester’s Albert Square into a “backpacker’s hotel” have been approved.
Designed by Sixtwo Architects, the creation of 16 bedrooms at 57 Princess Street will allow a capacity of up to 170 guests.
The hostel will be operated by a subsidiary of Realty Estates, which also runs the La Reserve Aparthotel in Manchester and a hotel in Fulham, London.
The offices on the first to fourth floors have been vacant for some time. Greek restaurant Rozafa operates from the ground floor and basement. The restaurant will remain, with the ground floor extended out towards the street to create additional dining space and a terrace on the first floor.
NJL Consulting is the planner.
