Manchester Uni seeks museum gallery designer

The Manchester Museum, part of Manchester University on Oxford Road, has launched a tender contest to appoint an exhibition designer to redevelop its Ancient Worlds Galleries.

The £700,000 first phase of the £1.6m project has been awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund and is due to open in October 2012.

An application will be made in 2010 for the £900,000 second phase subject to a successful initial stage.

The redevelopment will span three gallery spaces, covering 4,500 sq ft, over two floors within the museum.
