Cheshire East to name personalised travel planning provider

Cheshire East Council is set to appoint a provider to manage and deliver a personalised travel planning project.

The work comes as a result of the council winning £3.5m under the Government's Local Sustainable Transport Fund to support smarter travel choices for those who live and work in Crewe.

The LSTF programme will deliver the sustainable transport element of the All Change for Crewe regeneration programme.

The project aims to help address a number of issues in Crewe, particularly unemployment and deprivation, and congestion and car dependency.

The tender exercise has two packages of work. The first is a home-based engagement and involves provision of door-to-door travel advice to households in the target area of North West Crewe.

The second is a destination-based engagement and involves provision of travel advice at key destinations and major travel generators, such as businesses, educational establishments, hospital, town centre squares and public locations.

The contracting authority considers that the contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises and for community and voluntary sector organisations.

The work is expected to begin in July 2013 and complete by March 2015.

The value of the contract is estimated to be between £250,000 and £270,000.
