Leighton 400-home scheme by Mulbury, Torus moves forward
Cheshire East councillors unanimously gave the Flowers Lane development a seal of approval, pending more details on a play area and possible bus stop.
The project is on the border of Crewe and includes 120 affordable homes. Situated on 60 acres of pastureland, Flowers Lane will contain a mixture of bungalows, apartments, semi-detached and detached houses offering up to four bedrooms.
Mulbury Homes and Torus62 Development, part of Torus Group, are the companies behind the scheme, which received outline approval in January 2018. Once the groups have met conditions, the application will return to the head of planning for final approval.
Of the new homes, 26 will be one-bedroom bungalows while 54 will be semi-detached two-bedroom houses. There will be a mixture of 169 three-bedroom detached and semi-detached properties, with 101 four-bedroom detached ones as well. Apartment plans include 16 one-bedroom units and 34 two-bedroom ones.
Cllr Stewart Gardiner was vocal in his support of the application at the council’s strategic planning board meeting.
“I think it this looks when it’s built as good as it does on paper, it will be a very good part of Crewe to live,” he said.
APD assisted in the planning application.
During the same strategic planning board meeting, councillors debated for the fourth time Hillcrest Homes’ proposal to build 121 dwellings on the old King’s School site in Macclesfield.
Looks a quality scheme
