Warrington seeks contractors for Orford Park Project
Warrington Borough Council has published a tender for a £27m contract for the construction of its Orford Park Project.
The 16-month contract will start on 1 May next year with a completion date set for 30 September 2011.
Work will include the construction of a new-build three-storey hub building of approximately 105,000 sq ft, which will include car parking and the redevelopment of the existing park and grassed areas.
The hub building will incorporate an eight-lane swimming pool, teaching pool, wet and dry changing facilities, fitness suite, function room, dance and multi-use studios, squash courts, four badminton court sports hall, library, community day care facilities, crèche, 14-19 vocational training facilities and a cafe. A 25,000 sq ft medical centre will also be incorporated; however, the fit-out to this area is not included in the contract.
The external works comprise forming new grassed pitches, a new artificial pitch, skateboard and bmx park, cycle and walking trails, refurbishment of bowling greens, bowls pavilion, and extensive remodelling of park landscaping.
The Orford Park Project is a regeneration initiative which aims to provide sport, health and community facilities on a former landfill site between Winwick Road and Orford Park.
The project is led by Warrington Borough Council in partnership with The Orford Neighbourhood Project, Warrington Collegiate, Warrington Wolves, William Beamont High School, Warrington Disability Partnership, Network Warrington and the Warrington PCT.
Deadline for submitting tenders is Tuesday 15 September 2009.
