VIDEO | How Wates is making Warrington’s future greener

Wates Construction and Warrington Council took Place North West behind the scenes of the 92-home Sycamore development in Great Sankey to shed light on regeneration plans in the Cheshire community.

Sycamore is being delivered by Incrementum Housing Development Company, a commercial enterprise company owned by the council. It comprises a mixture of one- and two-bed apartments and two- and three-bed houses, including 28 affordable rent properties – all on brownfield land.

Wates began work on the scheme in 2020.

The project includes several sustainability initiatives, such as having EV charging spaces. There will also be solar panels on the properties to help supply energy, as well as ground source heat pumps to reduce carbon emissions.

With construction nearing completion on the Sycamore development, Place spoke with Dave Saville, Wates managing director for the North, and Steve Park, director of growth at Warrington Council, about how Sycamore fits into the broader Warrington regeneration picture.

You can see their responses in the video at the top of this article. Can’t see the video? You can watch it on the Place North West YouTube channel.
