Ribble Valley farmland primed for 100,000 sq ft industrial
A consultation has launched on plans to build four units opposite Causeway Farm off Longsight Road in the village of Osbaldeston.
The land owners are seeking outline planning permission to build a 100,000 sq ft industrial scheme across 10 acres of farmland.
The proposed scheme would result in various social, economic and environmental benefits to the immediate community, according to planning consultant Avison Young.
These benefits include job creation and the utilisation of underused land.
GA Studio is the architect for the project.
The public consultation on the scheme will run until 23rd December. A planning application will then be submitted to Ribble Valley Council.
At present, the local authority is updating its local plan. In the emerging framework, the site was identified as being potentially suitable for employment use.
However, it does not have an allocation under the plan for a specific purpose.
Surely a brownfield site would be preferred to ruining a beautiful natural area. It is already a very busy road and proximity to schools is far from ideal.
