Renaker on site at Crown Street
Renaker Build has started the first phase of enabling works at Crown Street, featuring two towers of 51 and 21 storeys in the Great Jackson Street area close to Manchester’s Deansgate station.
The move suggests the developer contractor will make a start on the scheme, which will include 664 one to three-bed apartments, within 2018.
A Renaker spokesman told Place North West: “Certain enabling works are being carried out. The main contract works have not yet commenced but we would anticipate starting in the next few months.”
The company, founded by ex-Laing O’Rourke man Daren Whitaker in 2006, is currently on site at the 44-storey 100 Greengate in Salford; and close to Crown Street is well on the way to delivering Deansgate Square, which features a tower of 66 storeys and will ultimately deliver 1,500 apartments.
In its latest results filed with Companies House, covering the year to 31 October 2017, the company reported a turnover of £97.3m and a pre-tax profit of £3.5m, up from £88.5m and £2.8m year-on-year respectively.
The Crown Street development has been designed by SimpsonHaugh & Partners, with Deloitte acting as planner. It sits within the Great Jackson Street development area, for which Manchester’s strategic framework was refreshed in late 2017, marking the area out for intensive development of residential towers.
Renaker’s scheme is at the development site known as Plot C, close to where the Mancunian Way meets Chester Road.
They certainly don’t waste any time! really looking forward to seeing this area come to life

Renaker should be put in charge of HS2. The speed they move is mindblowing.

Fantastic news, it will be great to see these two new towers add to Manchesters’ ever growing skyline and bring this important gateway site into Manchester into active use.

Completely agree with other comments, their ability to get on and deliver things is exceptional. Well done Daren.

I think the reason they are so quick is because it is so generic and mediocre (sorry).
I mean it is OK.
