Pozzoni adds energy assessment skills
Independent architecture practice Pozzoni claims to be among the first firms in the UK to offer a comprehensive range of in-house energy assessment services.
The Manchester-based firm has started offering advice and assessment on EcoHomes, the Code for Sustainable Homes, the Standard Assessment Procedure, Energy Performance Certificates and Display Energy Certificates.
Staff have undertaken National Energy Services and National Home Energy Rating courses ahead of the introduction of further regulations for energy performance. All public premises will be required to possess a DEC coming from October this year.
David Hughes, managing partner of Pozzoni, said: "Sustainability has been the watchword within the industry for many years now, and the myriad regulations are placing greater compliance pressures on developers.
"At Pozzoni we place great emphasis on integrating sustainable measures into design rather than simply specifying quick-win add-ons. We believe that it is imperative to incorporate environmental assessment as part of the regular review process, to be certain that we meet the demands of an ever changing environment, without placing unnecessary strain on it."
The move by Pozzoni coincides with the development of the practice's own environmental credentials. Currently working towards ISO14001, the firm's 'green team' has introduced a number of eco-friendly working practices, including priority parking for car-sharing staff and subsidised travel passes for public transport.
