Plans submitted for Preston apartments

Pillars Construction has put forward plans for three residential blocks on Avenham Lane in Preston, totalling almost 300 flats.

The application for the 60,000 sq ft site in Stoneygate, which is currently used as a car park, was sent in by architectural firm David Cox, which are acting as agents on behalf of Pillars. Pillars is currently led by director David Austin.

David Cox also provided the designs for the scheme.

The three stepped blocks range in height from six to eight storeys, dependent on planning permission, and are made up of a range of 294 one-bed and two-bed apartments.

The development will include cycle storage and a shared garden, and involve the creation of a basement for resident’s parking.

In documents submitted to the council as part of the application, it states “Preston City Council have outlined a number of key areas in the City Centre that require development. Stoneygate is one of those areas and the site has been allocated as housing. The aspiration of the City Centre plan is to define a purpose to Stoneygate, as it is an area of the city centre than lacks a clear role. The delivery of housing on these sites is a priority of the Preston Housing Zone and City Council.”
