Plans in for Moss Nook sports park

The second phase of Harworth Estates’ masterplan for the 95-acre site off Watery Lane in St Helens would deliver seven football pitches to Cromdale Grove Recreation Ground.

This would mark the next stage in the developer’s plans for Moss Nook, which also include the creation of 900 homes and a new spine road. Harworth acquired the land in 2018.

Proposals for Cromdale Grove Recreation Ground feature seven sports pitches, made up of two full-size and five smaller playing fields.

Pitches would range from 10,800 sq ft to 69,000 sq ft in size.

Aew Architects designed the scheme, which would also provide a 2,600 sq ft changing block.

There would be 153 parking spaces, including eight disabled ones, for visitors to the park.

Cumming Group is the scheme’s project manager.

Also on the project team is planning consultant Turley, landscape architect DLA, and engineer Hydrock.

The scheme would replace the Beeches Playing Fields, also located on the Moss Nook site. The fields are earmarked to be developed to create homes in phase four of the wider masterplan.
