PLANNING | Salford set to approve Embankment West
Select Property Group’s revised plans for Embankment West in Greengate will go before Salford’s planning committee next week with a recommendation for approval, as will Forshaw’s plans for 232 apartments in Worrall Street.
A scheme totalling 694 flats at Embankment West was approved in December 2016, only for Select to reduce the density of its proposal with revised plans, revealed in September. The scheme now includes 503 dwellings in total, with two eighteen-storey blocks and one of 16 storeys.
One of these will house 147 CitySuites serviced apartment rooms, complementing the CitySuites scheme completed on a neighbouring plot earlier this year. This scheme, aimed at the luxury end of the market, has enjoyed high occupancy levels. The reworked scheme has been designed by Callison RTKL, also architect on the initial project.
Also recommended for approval is the proposal for 232 apartments across three buildings of between seven and nine storeys in the Ordsall Riverside area.
The developer plans to demolish warehousing currently on the site, and replace it with a scheme covering two plots either side of Worrall Street. The project includes a block fronting the river, while the part of the scheme north of Worrall Street is bounded by Fortis Developments’ Bridgewater Point, currently under construction.
