Penbow plots Salford affordable homes

The developer has submitted plans to the city council to build 36 affordable homes on a former bowling green off Eccles Old Road in Pendleton.

The development would comprise 22 one-bedroom flats and 14 two-bedroom flats delivered across three blocks.

Salford-based Penbow, whose directors are listed as Hassen Lakhel and Graham Walsh, is in talks with a housing association to help fund the development and take ownership of the apartments once complete.

Subject to planning approval, the developer will submit an application to Homes England for grant funding.

Under the proposals, a two-bedroom detached property on the one-acre site would be demolished to make way for the apartments.

The architect for the project is Pentland Design & Management.

This still is a bowling green being ripped from under the many teams who play there where are they going to get their exercises and the social side we have teams competing in the Swinton league Eccles and District women’s teams mixed teams veterans league afternoon team and a thriving social side. The board of directors have used the Corona virus as an opportunity to close the club house and green and sell it for housing how many homes does a city need they have to rip up leisure venues which will be needed after the pandemic for the people of Salford to socialize and get their lives on track (TOTALLY DISGUSTED )

The Belmont Club is not a “former bowling green”. Bowling was banned under restrictions last year. There are teams waiting to get back bowling, an activity which many of all ages rely on for mental and physical health as well as social interaction.

That aside, if it did go, who is providing the extra facilities (medical, emergency, etc.) to support another 36 households?
