  • Wyre Borough Council's largest ever civil engineering project, first formally partnered scheme and first ever procured using a quality assessment process.
  • Throughout design and construction, safety and sustainability have been key considerations.
  • Highlights how partnering has evolved from business arrangements between customer and contractors to envelop the wider community as part of the team; programme of consultation and communication with the local community
  • Made a real difference to the local environment, the community, people's lives and their general well-being
  • Project was delivered 61 weeks ahead of schedule.
  • Saving of £1.417m on whole life costs.
  • Evolving value engineering and design optimisation contributed to the time and money savings.

The Judges said: "This award was for a project that represented the very best of the regional construction industry. It represented the unique ability of the industry to deliver projects that demonstrated exceptional construction, but also the ability to shape and improve the environment in which we live. It had to deliver much more than simply the project requirements – and had to have an impact way beyond laying bricks and pouring concrete. It had to be a part of a wider regeneration and benefit to the community.
