YHG wins consent for Openshaw homes
Manchester City Council has approved plans from Your Housing Group, the Warrington-based affordable housing provider, to build 216 homes on the site of former warehouses on Edge Lane.
The project will provide homes available on a mix of tenures. A total of 72 will be for sale as shared ownership schemes, another 72 will be for private rent, and 72 will be for affordable rent.
The units comprise a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses.
Edward Architecture has designed the scheme.
The 10-acre site houses offices and industrial units totalling 222,000 sq ft, all of which will be demolished under Your Housing Group’s plans.
The housing provider purchased the land in 2019 and the development is being funded through the housing provider’s strategic partnership with Homes England.
Your Housing was announced as one of the Government housing agency’s partners last January, earmarked to receive £87.5m to help Whitehall reach its target of delivering 11,000 new homes by 2025.
The planning consultant for the scheme is Barton Willmore.

Has manchester city council consulted with Tameside (who are building on the other side of the road) to ensure that all this new welcome and necessary housing is equally well provided with GP and school provisions and that local car routes are able to cope with the increased volume of traffic during school and commuting hours…??
