Vision in talks with Royal Mail to buy Copperas Hill

Liverpool Vision, the urban regeneration company, is in talks with Royal Mail over acquiring the soon to be redundant city sorting depot on Copperas Hill.

The large site on the fringe of the city centre is to be vacated by Royal Mail as part of its depot consolidation programme, with operations switching to Warrington.

Development bosses at Vision believe the land could play a key part in the future of the university area in which it sits and are keen to give it a considered development brief.

The acquisition would be funded by the North West Development Agency. Talks are at an early stage.

Meanwhile, Royal Mail has launched a search for a smaller industrial site in or around Liverpool city centre to handle distribution after the Copperas Hill site closes.

The site would need to provide 15,000 sq ft of premises, with car parking and a further acre for storage and distribution handling.

WHR is advising Royal Mail.
