Virgin opens First Class lounge at Lime Street

The new Virgin Trains First Class lounge at Liverpool Lime Street station was officially opened today.

The lounge, between platforms seven and eight, has seating for over 50 customers with access to free wireless Internet and self-service refreshments.

A new information centre and ticket office are included in the new building, which was partly funded by Network Rail and Merseytravel.

Virgin Trains currently operates 18 trains a day each way on the Liverpool-London route with most covering the 193-mile journey in around 2hr 08mins. Since December 2008 around 400,000 additional seats a year are being provided on the route.
