University to refurbish 300 bedrooms

Liverpool University is seeking a contractor to deliver a £5.5m refurbishment of student accommodation built in the early 1990s.

Melville Grove in Grove Street in the city centre is a complex of terrace and semi-detached housing containing 349 bedrooms.

The proposed works are full internal refurbishment including replacement of fixtures and finishes, bathrooms, kitchens, and bedroom furniture.

Project timescales are subject to review of the university's wider residential strategy and could be either:

  • Release of entire site in summer 2013, completion summer 2014
  • Site released in two halves with work over a two year period

Deadline for expressions of interest is 14 March.
