Spacezero lays out 2015 growth plans

A Manchester-based interior architect has announced plans to double its turnover and office space, and hire 10 new staff in the next 12 months after a raft of contract wins.

Having achieved £2.2m turnover in 2014, Spacezero is aiming for £5m in 2015, its sixth year in business.

Spacezero is a Building Information Modelling specialist and provides interiors, furniture, fixtures and equipment to large contractors, architects, local authorities and direct clients. Founded by Wayne Taylor and Philip Gardner in 2009, the firm has secured and completed more than 200 education and healthcare projects with 100 generated using BIM.

Spacezero currently has 34 staff in a 2,500 sq ft office at 18-22 Lloyd Street. However, the practice is looking to take a 6,200 sq ft space near Deansgate in the next three months.

The additional 10 staff will be recruited over the next year in line with growth and project demand.

The company is working as part of 12 Priority School Building Programme capital batches and two PF2 batches, with a construction value totalling around £740m. It has worked on school fit-outs in Manchester, Oldham and Bolton.

Taylor said: "It's been an extremely busy quarter and we now find ourselves at the point where we need to relocate to allow us to increase the size of our team or risk turning business away.

"Confidence in the market is on the up and combined with the number of projects being brought forward thanks to enhanced government funding, which has created a renewed demand for inspiring interior architecture."
