Scanlans takes over Bridgewater Bank management

Scanlans Property Management LLP has been appointed to provide a full range of management services to the residents of Bridgewater Bank in Manchester city centre.

The residents' management company picked Scanlans, which has an office in Mosley Street in Manchester city centre, to provide maintenance and cleaning services at the development, located on Great Bridgewater Street and Whitworth Street West. Scanlans will also provide all financial administration, collect service charges, and administer block insurance.

There are a total of 95 apartments under management at Bridgewater Bank, which was built ten years ago by original developer Bellway Homes.

Ian Stanistreet, Scanlans Property Management partner, said: "We are delighted to be appointed at Bridgewater Bank. We provide property management nationwide, but we are headquartered in Manchester, and the residents at Bridgewater Bank wanted managing agents who are local and can respond quickly to any issues.

"In addition, there is a growing demand from tenant management companies for the security of employing managing agents whose money handling duties are regulated.

"Despite the general climate of increasing financial regulation, many managing agents remain unregulated despite the large sums of money involved in collection of service charges and the payment of suppliers' bills. We are members of both the Association of Residential Management Agents and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors."

Scanlans' property management team totals 33 property managers, accounts personnel and administrators, looking after approximately 300 developments, which comprises 15,000 apartments.

The company said it plans to recruit more staff during 2010 and grow its commercial property portfolio, in addition to its residential schemes.
