Royal Northern appoints Styles & Wood

Styles & Wood has been appointed to carry out a £4.1m refurbishment of the concert hall at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

The 34-week scheme will see the group's Styles & Wood Projects business unit redevelop the hall, increasing its capacity and introducing new technical facilities.

Styles & Wood said education was among its priority sectors, with revenue generated from the sector increasing from £1.5m to £10m in the 18 months to February 2014.

Recent projects included the remodelling of the Witherslack Group's Avon Park School in Warwickshire and renewables division, Styles & Wood Energy, carrying out a Solar PV installation at the March Church of England Primary School in Chichester.

Tony Lenehan, chief executive of Styles & Wood, said: "The Royal Northern College of Music project is a prestigious scheme and acts as another showcase for our specialist teams' ability to create inspirational education spaces for a broad range of institutions.

"Education remains a key strategic sector for the business and the progress we have made over the past 18 months is further evidence of the success of our diversification strategy. We are confident that the Group is well positioned to continue to achieve sustained growth in the education sector."
