Remarketed Crewe site goes to Redrow

Housebuilder Redrow has acquired a Crewe residential development site from South Cheshire College for an undisclosed sum.

First marketed in 2007, the Danebank Avenue site was withdrawn from sale due to the downturn in the global economy.

Legat Owen was instructed to bring the site back to the market in September 2012. Redrow was identified as the preferred developer following a competitive bidding process.

Alex Wood, land director at Redrow Homes, said the site which will enable the company to continue its growth strategy of developing quality family homes within its Heritage portfolio.

Stephen Wade, director at Legat Owen, said: "The quality of the site is such that it attracted strong interest from the UK's leading house builders.

"Redrow were selected as preferred developer having impressed the College with the all round quality of their offer."

Redrow will now submit a Reserved Matters Application and aim to be on site early in the New Year.
