Priority Sites Cumbria scheme ‘not complete until May’

Priority Sites' 50,210 sq ft Derwent Mills Commercial Park in Cockermouth, Cumbria, will now not be completed for another month.

Richard Percival, director of agents Carigiet Cowen, said: "The scheme has been delayed due to the weather conditions in December and problems over the rise in the cost of steel, but the site is due to be completed early in May."

Derwent Mills Commercial Park was originally due to be completed last month by contractors Border Construction.

Despite the delays on the scheme, Percival mentioned two of the twelve units are under offer. He said: "Some reasonably positive news on the scheme is that we have a 2,900 sq ft unit and 4,000 sq ft unit in line prior to completion. Both are under offer and the companies are both currently based in Cumbria."

Carigiet Cowen are quoting rents based on £5.80/sq ft. Units range from 2,900 sq ft to 9,000 sq ft.

Derwent Mills Commercial Park is set to sustain up to 100 jobs for the Cockermouth area.

SMC DTR was the chosen architect on the project.

Priority Sites appointed Carigiet Cowen and Smeatons as joint agents in January.
