PQQ published for extra-care scheme

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group has started procuring a construction partner to build a 135-unit extra-care residential development straddling Hollyhedge Road in South Manchester.

The apartment scheme for elderly residents will be built using funds from the Department of Health's Care & Support Specialised Housing Fund. The budget is between £14m and £16m.

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group owns 13,600 properties and is part of a group that includes Willow Park Housing Trust and Parkway Green Housing Trust.

The proposed tenure mix includes 66 apartments for affordable rent, 39 apartments for shared ownership, and 30 apartments for outright sale.

A communal facility will also be constructed within the scheme. The development is proposed on two adjacent sites on either side of a main road with an interconnecting bridge link.
The proposed construction period is 18 months starting in May 2014.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 18 November.
