Plans in for Preston student accommodation

Stonewell Property Company has submitted plans for a 319-room student accommodation block at a brownfield site in Preston city centre.

The proposals for the plot at the corner of Corporation Street and Marsh Lane are for a four and seven-storey building comprising 64 cluster flats, with a 4,000 sq ft ground floor retail unit with access from Friargate.

Designed by David Cox Architects, the building would be constructed around a central courtyard visible from Corporation Street.

According to documents submitted to Preston City Council, the site had received planning permission for similar developments in the past under different owners, none of which were implemented.

The plot is identified in the Preston Planning Framework as being a key development site.
