Planning approval for Oldham waste plant

Hourigan Connolly has secured detailed planning approval for a waste oil recycling plant on Green Lane in Oldham on behalf of KS Oils.

Designs include eight 10m high storage tanks with a combined capacity of 290 tonnes. The 0.25-acre plant will recycle waste cooking oil from local restaurants for use in biodiesel products.

Despite earlier objections to the proposals, Oldham Council supported the application and is satisfied that the plant will not pose a risk to the amenity of the local area.

Richard Lomas, associate at Hourigan Connolly, who led negotiations with the Council, commented: "There were a number of technical matters that had to be addressed in the application but we are pleased to see this vacant site being brought back into economic use and jobs created."

The development will commence later this year.
