PlaceTech launched to proptech market

Place Group, publisher of Place North West, has launched a second publication, PlaceTech, where the property and technology communities meet, at placetech.net.

Following the success of Place North West, which now attracts more than 70,000 visitors to the website each month, Place is extending its reach into the specialist business-to-business media market for property professionals keen to learn about tech coming into their sector.

Paul Unger, founder and publisher of Place North West and PlaceTech, said: “I’ve been interested in property technology for several years and as I have looked more closely at the subject it became clear there wasn’t a regular trusted source of information to help property people find their way when it came to digital transformation.

“Readers told us they have seen enough about the threat of disruption. They have done the theory and are now ready for the practical. Property businesses are starting to make buying decisions and we believe there is a gap for educating, informing and championing the products and pioneers leading the way down the proptech path.”

PlaceTech will cover the full breadth of built environment disciplines that go into making places, just as Place North West does: architecture and design, construction, engineering, surveying, agency, investment, management, planning, policy, transport and more in between.

At launch placetech.net contains guides on blockchain and artificial intelligence, specific product showcases, news about tech adopters, and strategic insight.

The potential of the UK proptech market is huge. Commercial and residential property assets are worth a combined £6.8tn according to the Investment Property Forum. If the developers, investors, homeowners behind those assets spend an average of 1% of the value of their property on tech that will equate to a £68bn UK proptech market. That is before counting the turnover of the advisors and contractors to the sector investing in their own business practices.

PlaceTech has agreed launch partnerships with Bruntwood and Manchester Science Partnerships, OBI Property and Redwood Consulting; all leading property players helping to shape the tech landscape and modernise real estate for the tech-enabled generation.
