Peel presses on with first Wirral Waters office

Peel Land & Property has submitted a planning application for a £6m office block at Wirral Waters, designed by architect Glenn Howells, marking its first major office development at the 500-acre regeneration site.

The development will offer different types of office accommodation over three storeys, with the first floor targeted at small businesses, while the upper two floors will offer six suites of grade A office space.

The six suites will be between 3,000 sq ft and 4,000 sq ft in size.

Supported by a grant from the Liverpool City Region’s Single Investment Fund and Wirral Council, the building is expected to cost £6m. GVA is commercial agent for Wirral Waters.

Subject to planning, the project is due to start on site in the autumn and will complete in late 2019.

It will be situated next to the £11m Wirral Metropolitan College on Tower Road, the first major building on the site, which was also designed by Glenn Howells.

It is the latest in a raft of projects announced at the multi-billion-pound development site, after Peel outlined three major schemes that were due to come forward this year at the MIPIM property conference in Cannes two weeks ago.

These include a 70,000 sq ft speculative industrial project with developer Harlex; a £55m, 347-home development in a joint venture with Urban Splash; and the £90m Wirral Waters One, which will provide 500 apartments.

Leader of Wirral Council, Cllr Phil Davies, said: “More news of large scale developments at Wirral Waters is extremely welcome.

“Building new homes, creating jobs and improving our local communities and neighbourhoods lies at the very heart of our regeneration and economic growth plans.

“Coming so soon after major housing developments have been announced, and alongside our own plans with Wirral Growth Company, it is an exciting time for our borough.”
