Parker Street flats sell out
All 91 apartments within the residential conversion of the former Reece’s Ballroom in Liverpool have sold off-plan, largely to overseas buyers, according to developer Caro.
Nobles Construction started on site at Parker Street in October to convert the upper floors and rooftop of the neo-classical building, known as the location of John Lennon’s first marriage in 1962, into studio and one-bedroom apartments.
The building is being extended from five to seven storeys, and is due to complete next year. No changes will be made to the façade.
The architect is Falconer Chester Hall.
Lee Darwen, operations director of Caro Developments, said: “Just 12 months from our acquisition of the site we are thrilled to announce that the response to the Parker Street Residences has been huge with all units now sold.
“It’s an exciting time for Liverpool’s Clayton Square area which has seen a lot of investment and improvements in the past year. The apartments are a great addition to the ongoing investment in the area.
“Overseas interest has been key to the overwhelming success of Parker Street, with lots of interest coming from both Europe and further afield. In the wake of Brexit, it is more than encouraging to see that there is still a lot of faith and interest in Liverpool’s residential offering.”
Great news! There’s a real opportunity at the building next door too – corner of Parker Street/Church Street – for increasing the height in front of old George Henry Lee’s store (now TK Max.. new Co-op bank below), and for resi conversion or hotel. Unfinished townscapes following the 1930s stripped down classical interventions we see today. Monumental scales that can be carried through further today, and in keeping with Spinney House, old Owen Owen building etc.
