Orbit agrees Skem letting

Freight forwarding specialist UKI Express Transport has relocated within Skelmersdale to a 100,400 sq ft Orbit Developments’ warehouse.

UKI moves 1,500 separate consignments every day through the UK via road, air and sea.

Peter Gummerson, managing director, said: “This move was imperative for our continued growth and in order to support our large portfolio of clients who currently ship in excess of 190,000 tonnes per year into and around the United Kingdom.”

Dennis Dwyer, Orbit’s divisional director for Merseyside, said: “This is a significant letting for the site and demonstrates that the commercial market for units of this size is alive and kicking. Skelmersdale has an enviable location for logistics operators with its location being so close to the M6 and the motorway network.

“We are continuing to market the site with a further 370,000 sq ft of refurbished distribution warehouse accommodation on the site with the first phase of 185,000 sq ft ready for end users to let at the end of October.”

The retained agents are CBRE and Knight Frank.
