Oliver Bonas joins Liverpool One line-up

Fashion and jewellery retailer Oliver Bonas is to open its first Liverpool store at Liverpool One’s upper South John Street.

The brand’s 3,000 sq ft store will offer homewares, fashion collections and gifts, and joins the recently upsized Pull&Bear on upper South John Street, next to John Lewis.

Designed by an in-house team, Oliver Bonas’s Liverpool One store will be the latest in 70 shops across the UK. The store will open this autumn.

Grosvenor Europe, owner of Liverpool One, has revealed its latest figures, showing a 4.9% increase in spend per head throughout the couse of this year, while overall sales have grown by 3% compared to a UK average of 0.7%. 25 brands have signed up, opened or renewed leases since the start of the year.

Oliver Bonas spokesperson said: “It has been our long-held goal to expand our retail footprint to Liverpool, where we believe our curated collections and eclectic designs will prove a hit. Liverpool ONE has a great reputation and a unique appeal with consumers from across the region. We will also be in great company amongst a host of other leading brands, making Liverpool One the ideal location to launch in the area.”

Alison Clegg, director of asset management, Grosvenor Europe, added: “As one of the leading fashion and lifestyle brands in the UK, we are delighted to welcome Oliver Bonas, alongside the 25 renowned brands that have also committed to Liverpool One to date this year. The brand’s strategic selection of Liverpool One, alongside these other openings and significant lease renewals, highlights Liverpool One’s status as one the UK’s leading retail and leisure-led mixed-used destinations.”

Other openings due in the coming weeks include the North West flagship for beauty brand Too Faced, and the signing of luxury jewellers Rox for a 1,600 sq ft boutique on Peter’s Lane.

Cushman & Wakefield and Metis Real Estate Advisors acted for Liverpool One and Colliers International represented Oliver Bonas.

Good news – I do like the store! But is there any sign of a new department store type set up? I know we can’t have a Selfridges – but someone else……… John Lewis is far too complacent in its offering, as are the staff – as the only department store in town (I know we have Debenhams) but there needs to be more competition – and more choice…..please?
