Next stop Manchester for Kilmartin after Amerdale takeover

Scottish developer Kilmartin Property Group is planning to open an office in Manchester following the acquisition of Yorkshire-based investor and developer Amerdale for an undisclosed sum.

Amerdale was set up by former Teesland director Mark Hancock. Kilmartin and Amerdale already have joint ventures in the North of England including Phoenix Park in South Liverpool. Mark Ridehalgh of Amerdale will head operations in the North of England.

Hancock will become group chief executive of the merged company, with Ian Wotherspoon of Kilmartin becoming chairman.

The company has a £1bn development programme and plans to expand its investment arm including through fund management.

Kilmartin is 50% owned by Bank of Scotland.
