Neptune seeks contractors for New Brighton scheme
Neptune Developments has today published a tender for a £30m construction contract to redevelop the waterfront at New Brighton, Wirral.
Neptune submitted a detailed planning application for the second and final stage of its £60m regeneration of the Merseyside coastal town last November.
The two-year contract includes draining the existing marine lake, raising existing site levels and the construction of 112,000 sq ft of leisure space.
A 60 bed Premier Inn hotel, 5,500 sq ft canoe/sailing club, 64,000 sq ft Morrisons supermarket, 10,000 sq ft leisure centre incorporating an external pool, and new model boating lake form other requirements of the contract.
The Morrisons supermarket is expected to create around 300 jobs for people living in the area.
Chris Evenson, Morrisons development director, said: "We are delighted to have exchanged contracts with Neptune Developments on this scheme to continue the resurgence of New Brighton. We look forward to the opening of our new store and providing a purpose-built Morrisons for the people of New Brighton."
In the smaller first phase, the new Floral Pavilion Theatre (pictured) was built by contractor Kier North West and designed by renowned Liverpool architect Ken Martin.
Deadline for submission of interest in the latest phase is 24 February.
