M&S Simply Food to open in Congleton

Cheshire-based investor-developer Bluemantle has secured M&S Simply Food at its 72,000 sq ft retail park in Congleton.

M&S Simply Food has agreed a 20-year lease and is set to occupy a 15,000 sq ft unit. Bluemantle has also re-geared the lease of Focus DIY on a 15,000 sq ft unit within the Park at a headline rental level of £18/sq ft.

Congleton Retail Park is home to Laura Ashley, Carphone Warehouse and Halfords and was developed five years ago by Bluemantle.

John Leighton of Bluemantle said: "We are very pleased to have negotiated the deal with M&S Simply Food and Focus DIY, which have established a new rental tone for the Park. We continue to work on asset management opportunities and have strong interest in the final remaining 4,000 sq ft unit. We are also looking at developing the Park further by building an additional 5,000 sq ft over the next 12 months."

The new M&S Simply Food store is due to open in November 2010. Cushman & Wakefield and Cheetham & Mortimer are the retained joint letting agents.

Advantage if no Parking charges are enforced. Prices MUST be competitive for the area; my nearest M & S food market is in Macclesfield. All the local comments I am hearing is that doesn’t compete pricewise with Congleton, don’t bother coming with those prices we can acquire similar quality produce for more reasonable prices.
