Motorpoint agrees Widnes branch deal

Colliers International has secured an occupier for a 5.5-acre car supermarket facility in Widnes on behalf of a private landlord.

Independent retailer, Motorpoint, which has seven other branches, took a 20-year lease and will occupy the site at a rent of £200,000 a year. The site includes showroom and workshop accommodation totaling 11,781 sq ft.

David Chittenden, head of automotive and trade at Colliers International, said: "The letting clearly demonstrates how the demand in the automotive property market has changed in the last 12 months as it had been vacant for nearly three years. Indeed we could have let it three times over as readymade opportunities like this are now rare in this sector."

He went on: "With seven existing sites across the UK, Motorpoint is a well-established car supermarket operator. We were pleased to be able to secure a high profile business for this site, while providing a strong rental income for our client."

David Chittenden and Edward Jeffrey from Colliers International advised the landlord. Motorpoint was represented by Nigel Griffiths of Nigel D Griffiths & Co.
