Moorfields office-to-resi conversion set for approval

The refurbishment of No. 2 Moorfields, a 63,000 sq ft former office building in Liverpool’s central business district, into 136 studio apartments has been recommended for approval by the council’s planning committee.

The 30-year-old block in Dale Street will see the flats created in the upper floors under plans drawn up by architect Falconer Chester Hall for Isle of Man client Miller Services.

A ground floor office and blood donor suite will remain under the proposals.

Part of the outside of the building is made up of a grade-two listed façade, which will not be affected by the plans.

In a report ahead of the meeting of Liverpool City Council’s planning committee on Tuesday 9 June, the head of planning said:

“It is considered that a high quality conversion in a highly accessible location enabling people to live, work and study in the city centre will contribute towards a sustainable mix of uses in an existing mixed use area.”
