MIPIM | Peel submits plans for £160m shed

Peel Logistics has submitted a planning application for a 1.7m sq ft industrial scheme at Haydock Point, St Helens.

The developer is seeking permission for the project in principle, and for creation of a new junction off the A580. Peel announced the news as part of an overview of its projects, at its annual logistics breakfast held at MIPIM in Cannes.

The application is in outline form, the specific unit sizes have yet to be decided. However, according to Matt Fitton, development director of Peel Logistics, the site could accommodate a large unit of up to 1m sq ft.

While Haydock Point is being brought forward speculatively, Fitton said that the developer had already received occupier interest.

The plot is currently in the green belt, however has been allocated for employment use within St Helens’ draft Local Plan.

Michael Sparks is the masterplanner advising Peel.
