Accountant PwC is due to sign contracts on a pre-let office within No.1 Spinningfields next week, according to Allied London chief executive Michael Ingall.
PwC has a 60,000 sq ft requirement and was tipped for some time as a tenant for the 343,000 sq ft tower. Ingall confirmed the likely closure of the deal in the next seven days speaking to Place North West on the Manchester stand following Allied London's presentation about St John's, the former ITV Granada site in Quay Street.
Ingall also announced that 40,000 sq ft of retail and leisure within the 19-storey No.1 Spinningfields tower was also under offer.
PwC is one of four professional services firms looking to relocate out of Barbirolli Square. EY is expected to take 60,000 sq ft at Mosley Street Venture's No 2 St Peter's Square, DLA Piper has agreed a 40,000 sq ft lease at 1 St Peter's Square, and Addleshaw Goddard has a 55,000 sq ft requirement.
No.1 Spinningfields will be built on the site of Quay House, with demolition due to begin next week.
The office was designed by SimpsonHaugh & Partners, with planning advice by Deloitte Real Estate. The letting agent is OBI Property.
Iwan Griffiths, PwC's North West chairman, commented: "The North West continues to be an area of focus and investment for the firm. We are exploring all our options for when our lease on 101 Barbirolli Square ends next year, to ensure we continue to provide our staff, clients and contacts, with a first class office environment."
