M&G’s Chris Perkins joins Question Time Manchester line-up
The global investment manager’s head of UK capital markets is the latest to join a list of industry and political heavy hitters speaking at the Place North West event, including Homes England chief executive Peter Denton, Manchester City Council chief executive Joanne Roney and Grosvenor investment director Keith Bailey.
Held at 6pm on 22 November at The Midland, Question Time Manchester: Defining the capital of the North is a can’t-miss event for those looking to meet some of the most influential figures impacting the property industry in the North West.
Hear from Northern Powerhouse Partner director Henri Murison, Get Living’s chief executive Rick de Blaby, Savills planning director Jeremy Hinds and L&Q’s chief executive Fiona Fletcher-Smith. Expect discussions about Manchester’s future, the appetite for investment, the influence of ESG and priorities surrounding place-shaping.
In between panels, Manchester City Council leader Sir Richard Leese will sit down for an intimate interview with Place North West senior reporter Dan Whelan to chat about his career and Manchester’s future.

- PETER DENTON, HOMES ENGLAND | Priorities include investing over £4bn in building new homes, and selling land that will be suitable for building around 6,000 more homes in the future.
- KEITH BAILEY, GROSVENOR | Responsible for delivering Grosvenor’s investment strategy away from the core London estate holding. The aim is to identify opportunities to invest on a sole basis and with partners to build a diversified investment portfolio.
- HENRI MURISON, NORTHERN POWERHOUSE PARTNERSHIP | As its first permanent director, he has established the Northern Powerhouse Partnership as the business-led organisation which convenes the North together.
- SIR RICHARD LEESE, MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL | Became leader of the council in 1996. During his tenure, the city has grown and its skyline changed with the transformation of the city centre and establishment of the East Manchester urban regeneration company.
- FIONA FLETCHER-SMITH, L&Q | Spearheaded a £5bn development programme, led expansion into the Midlands and North West, and delivered change programmes to improve both the efficiency and diversity of the development and sales function.
- JEREMY HINDS, SAVILLS | Has a strong reputation in commercial planning, particularly retail. He leads two teams that between them comprise six directors, based in Manchester, Leeds and London.
- RICK DE BLABY, GET LIVING | Has 40 years’ experience in development and investment in both the residential and commercial sectors, with a particular interest in regeneration and design.
- CHRIS PERKINS, M&G | Leads on all transactions and investment activity. M&G's transactions in the UK total £21bn. He is also chairman of the M&G global real estate valuation forum.
