MCR releases Old Trafford residential designs
MCR Property Group subsidiaries Hazelloch and Intro Developments have published images of the proposed 170-unit apartment block to be built to the rear of Trafford Plaza, the office acquired at the turn of the year from Bruntwood.
A planning application could be submitted as early as this month for the new apartment building on the car park behind the existing building, facing Seymour Park.
A pre-planning public consultation event was held at Trafford Plaza for residents earlier this month. There was a mixed response to the proposals, with support for a boost to housing supply tempered by concerns about lost views of the parkland from residents at Madison Apartments next door and about extra traffic on Seymour Grove.
The design by Leach Rhodes Walker features a stepped building rising from 10 to 16 storeys with a mix of one and two bedrooms and 160 parking spaces, 170 bike spaces.
The existing Trafford Plaza building already has permitted development rights permission to be converted into 90 apartments.
Prices for the apartments have not been finalised but are expected to range from £150,000 to £220,000. The most recent apartments sold next door at Madison went for £160,000. The gross development value for Trafford Plaza is likely to exceed £40m.
Planning consultant Roman Summer is advising the developer.
